Introduction
Jigsaw Lounge Operations ("we") explain here how we handle information about the people who use Jigsaw Lounge - the website puzzlelounge.app/jigsaw/ and its phone app ("the service").
What we collect
The service does not collect email addresses, passwords, real names, postal addresses or phone numbers. To let you play, it handles the following.
- Player number: a random number made on your device the first time you open the service. It is used only to tell players apart and is never shown to other players.
- Names: the display name you type (up to 12 characters) and any names you give your trays.
- Friends: your friend code, who your friends are, and friend requests.
- Play records: room settings, piece moves (for replays), the names of the people in a room, finishing times, ranking records, and a copy of an unfinished table.
- What you are playing: the room and picture you are playing, so your friends can see you are playing. You can turn this off in settings.
- Handover: your recovery code (stored on the server only in a form that cannot be turned back into the code) and device-to-device handover links (which expire after 10 minutes).
- Error reports: what went wrong, on which page, and the kind of browser. They contain no names or player numbers.
- Usage counts: daily counts of visits and finished puzzles. They do not say who anyone is.
- Connection data: IP addresses are used only briefly, to stop floods of requests, and are not stored. Our hosting provider's logs do keep records of requests for a limited time.
What we do not collect
The pictures and titles you use in "Your own pictures" stay only on your device. They are never sent to our server or to other players. A copy of an unfinished table may be sent to the server, but it never contains the picture itself.
The service does not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Why we use it
We use this information only:
- to run the service and let you play together in rooms and with friends
- to build and show the rankings
- to let you carry on from another device
- to prevent cheating and abuse
- to fix problems and improve the service
- to answer your questions
What other players can see
- Your name is shown to people in the same room, to your friends, and to anyone viewing a ranking.
- Anyone who knows a room's code can see its picture, the names of the people who played, and its replay.
- The top ranking records (names and times) can be seen by anyone.
- Your player number and recovery code are never shown to other players.
- In settings you can hide your name on the rankings. Other players then see it as “Anonymous”.
What is stored on your device
The service does not use cookies. It keeps your settings, name, player number, unfinished tables and your own pictures in your browser's or the app's storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). It also keeps copies of pictures and program files on your device so the service opens faster next time. All of this is removed if you clear your browser's or the app's data.
Other services we use
The service relies on the following outside services, each of which handles information under its own policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting and data storage. Data may be stored on servers outside Japan.
- Google LLC (AdMob): to show ads, in the Android app only. Google collects the advertising ID, device information, IP address and similar data to serve and measure ads. See https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites for details. You can reset or turn off the advertising ID in your device settings.
- Purchases through Google Play and similar stores: payment details are handled by those companies, and we never receive card numbers or the like.
Sharing with others
We do not give your information to anyone else without your consent, except where the law requires it. We do let the outside services listed above handle it to the extent needed to run the service.
How long we keep it
- Room data (including names and replays): deleted automatically 7 days after the room was last played.
- Names, friends and ranking records: kept until you ask us to delete them, or until the service ends.
- Copies of unfinished tables: deleted when the table is finished or given up.
- Error reports: the newest 300 are kept, and older ones are deleted.
- Handover links: expire after 10 minutes.
Seeing and deleting your data
In settings you can remove friends, stop showing that you are playing, and delete your own pictures.
To see or delete anything else - your name, friend code, ranking records, recovery code and so on - email support@puzzlelounge.app. To confirm it is you, include the friend code shown in your settings. We will usually respond within 30 days.
If you clear your browser's or the app's data first, we may no longer be able to confirm it is you. Please contact us before you clear it.
Children
If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before using the service.
Keeping it safe
We take the necessary steps, such as encrypted connections and restricted access, to keep this information from being leaked or lost.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy when needed. We will announce important changes in the service or on this page.
